Minutes/Report: DATE: August 25, 2010 - Meeting Minutes LOCATION: Teleconference ATTENDEES: Heather Gaumer, Karla Gilson, Brian Thies, Karen Snyder Absent: Mary Jo Smith, Carol Bogaard Anna Haug of ICAN has taken a position with a company outside of financial aid. ICAN would like for Molly Schoeder to be on the AMRC in her place. Molly is an outreach representative from the Cedar Rapids location. GUEST(S): MINUTES STATUS: Entertainment We will probably go offsite for dinner on Wednesday night to Joseph’s Steakhouse. After dinner the Program Committee has asked that the box of games be available for people to gather and play together. Also, Mary Jo is working with a contact at U of I for possible lunch entertainment on Thursday or dinner entertainment Wednesday evening. Charity Information The AMRC has selected the Ronald McDonald House. This charity will be presented the program committee at the next meeting on Friday, September 3rd. The AMRC decided that collecting items and monetary gifts would be best for the fall conference. We would like to explore a silent auction format for the spring conference. Two presenters have already been found – Pat R. from ISL will provide 15 minutes on requirements, Karen Gagnon of Morningside has agreed to share their process as well. We are looking for one more presenter. Karen and Brian will speak with Carol Bogaard and Jeff Murphy to see if they know of innovative techniques. Other During the meeting I forgot to mention that a volunteer is needed to write listserv announcements about the charity. Also, a “spotlight” needs to be written for the conference program about the box of games available after Wednesday night’s dinner. Karla Gilson has volunteered to take care of these items. If anyone else wants to help her, you may contact her directly. Please report back to all committee members as you make progress on your various “assignments.” We will likely have another teleconference in September to finalize our work.
